Professor Karen Bryan OBE is the current Vice Chancellor of York St John University. Previously, she served as Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Greenwich and Pro Vice Chancellor for Regional Engagement at Sheffield Hallam University. As a speech and language therapist with a PhD, her work focuses on communication disorders in forensic populations, young offenders, and aging populations. She has pioneered research on right hemisphere language difficulties and the impact of communication barriers in healthcare access. Bryan is also involved in developing Registered Intermediaries for the UK Ministry of Justice and was a former Health Professions Council member.
