Karen Abadie is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the School of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Plymouth. She holds a BA in Geography (1987, University of Portsmouth), MA Fine Art (2012, University of Plymouth), MSc Change Agent Skills and Strategies (2002, University of Surrey), and a PDAP in Teaching and Learning (2019). Her academic role includes leading Stage 3 BA Fine Art modules and serving as Stage 3 Lead.
Her research focuses on the medical humanities strand within art practice, exploring the body as a site through anthropological and autoethnographic lenses. Teaching expertise includes mental health artistic strategies, sound/video installation, and socially engaged art. She is affiliated with the Higher Education Academy as an Associate Fellow.
