Kamini Vellodi

Kamini Vellodi is a Lecturer in Contemporary Art Theory and Practice at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. She is also an artist, writer, and researcher specializing in modern European philosophy, particularly the works of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, and their intersections with art history and visual culture.

• Expertise: Deleuze and Guattari studies, art historiography, diagrammatics, Renaissance art, and interdisciplinary methodologies.
• Education: PhD in Philosophy from the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (Middlesex University), alongside postgraduate and undergraduate degrees in Fine Art (Painting) from the Royal College of Art and Chelsea College of Art.

Her research explores the critical intersection of philosophy, visual arts, and art history, with a focus on methodological innovations and the temporality of art historical narratives. She has published extensively on diagrammatic thought, Deleuze’s influence on art theory, and 16th-century Italian painting.

Deleuze, Diagrammatics and Art History (2018) and essays in journals like Art History, Zeitschrift für Ästhetik und Allgemeine Kunstwissenschaft, and Parrhesia. Her work bridges continental philosophy with practical and theoretical dimensions of art practice.
