Kamini Vellodi is an academic and artist affiliated with the Royal College of Art (RCA), joining in 2024 as part of the School of Arts & Humanities and the Radical Matter Research proto-Centre. Previously, she held roles as Senior Lecturer in Philosophy, Theory, and History of Art, and Director of Research at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. She earned a PhD in Philosophy from Middlesex University (2012) and a BA in Painting from Chelsea College of Art, London.
Her research focuses on modern and contemporary European philosophy, critical theory, and the intersections of art history and visual culture. Notable works include Tintoretto’s Difference. Deleuze, Diagrammatics and Art History (2019) and co-edited volumes such as Grey on Grey (2023). Recent articles explore topics like interstitial thought, aniconic art, and planetary concepts in art historiography.
Kamini serves on editorial boards for Art History and Deleuze Studies, and participates in academic committees including CHEAD’s Research Strategy group. Her work critiques conventional disciplinary boundaries, emphasizing transdisciplinary approaches to art and philosophy.
