Kai Tittmann

Prof. Dr. Kai Tittmann is a Professor of Molecular Enzymology at Georg-August-University Göttingen since 2014. His academic career includes positions at MLU Halle-Wittenberg (2003-2008 as Jun.-Prof.) and Ben-Gurion University (2006 as Guest Professor). He holds a Dr. rer. nat. (2000) and Diplom (1996) from Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg.

His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of enzymes, particularly those involving vitamin-derived cofactors, metal ions, and Schiff base enzymes. Techniques employed include X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, and computational methods. Applications target biocatalysis and drug design. His lab's work has led to significant discoveries in enzyme transition states and catalytic intermediates.

Notable awards include the 2014 Peter Yates Lecture and 2005 Saxony-Anhalt Research Prize. His research group operates within the Schwann-Schleiden-Research Center, affiliated with GGNB programs in Molecular Biology and Biomolecules.
