Kah Poh Loh

Kah Poh Loh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is a key member of the Wilmot Cancer Institute and the UR Medicine Faculty Group, where she leads the geriatric hematology effort within one of the largest geriatric oncology programs in the United States. Her clinical work focuses on older adults with hematologic malignancies, including acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloproliferative disorders.

Dr. Loh’s research is dedicated to improving outcomes for older cancer patients through behavioral and supportive care interventions, particularly those leveraging digital health technologies. Her work includes telehealth-based serious illness care programs, shared decision-making tools for acute myeloid leukemia, and mobile health exercise interventions to mitigate functional decline during treatment. She employs mixed-method research designs and has extensive experience in geriatric assessment and patient-reported outcomes.

Her recent publications reflect a strong focus on geriatric assessment, palliative care, financial toxicity, exercise oncology, and the use of technology in cancer care. These works span high-impact journals in oncology, geriatrics, and supportive care, demonstrating her interdisciplinary approach and leadership in advancing care for older adults with cancer.

Dr. Loh has received numerous scientific awards, including the NCI K99/R00 Career Development Award, the Conquer Cancer ASCO Career Development Award, and multiple honors from the American Geriatrics Society. She has also been recognized as a 40 Under 40 Emerging Leader in Cancer and a Tideswell Emerging Leader in Aging.

She is actively involved in mentoring, clinical trial leadership, and national guideline development. Her funded research includes an NCI R01 and several pilot and dissemination grants, supporting her mission to translate evidence into practice for vulnerable older cancer patients.
