Kaeten Mistry is an Associate Professor of American History at the University of East Anglia (UEA), based in the School of Politics, Philosophy and Area Studies. His research focuses on U.S. foreign relations, national security, and the evolution of government secrecy. He has led major projects like the AHRC-supported study on national security whistleblowing and authored influential works such as Whistleblowing Nation and The United States, Italy, and the Origins of Cold War. Mistry holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham and has held visiting appointments at institutions including the University of Oxford and New York University.
His expertise spans Cold War history, intelligence studies, and civil liberties, with contributions to journals like Journal of American History and Modern Italy. He has received awards including the 2020 HOTCUS Article Prize and chairs the Historians of the Twentieth Century United States (HOTCUS). Mistry actively supervises PhD students in areas like U.S. foreign policy and secrecy regimes.
