Kaberi Dasgupta, MD, MSc, FRCPC is a Senior Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) and a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University. She is affiliated with the Metabolic Disorders and Complications Program and the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at RI-MUHC, and works within the Department of Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine at the McGill University Health Centre.
Dr. Dasgupta's research focuses on prevention, remission, and self-management support in diabetes. Her work is funded by major organizations including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lawson Foundation, and Diabetes Canada. She has published over 150 papers and has received significant media coverage due to the direct relevance of her research to patients, practitioners, and policy makers. She is a co-author of Diabetes Canada clinical practice guidelines on remission, physical activity, and type 2 diabetes pharmacotherapy.
Her current research projects include studying the reversal of type 2 diabetes through low energy diet and supervised exercise (funded by CIHR-MRC), examining the impact of recurrent gestational diabetes on cardiac disease in mothers, fathers, and offspring (funded by Heart & Stroke Foundation), and investigating the uptake and acceptability of web resources, ePlatform-based step and weight monitoring, and health coaching on health behavior change in gestational diabetes (funded by Lawson Foundation).
