Ka-Kin Cheuk is a Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Southampton. He holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford and has held previous academic positions at institutions including City University of Hong Kong and Rice University. His research focuses on transnational migration, inter-Asian connections, and diaspora studies, with fieldwork across China, India, the Middle East, and Europe. He is currently investigating Scotland-China environmental ethics through flower industries.
Key research areas include the study of Indian traders in China, Sikh diasporas in Hong Kong, and governance assemblages in Chinese counties. He has published widely in journals like History and Anthropology and Transitions: Journal of Transient Migration, and has received grants for innovative teaching methods in decolonizing Asian Studies.
He serves on editorial boards for Transitions: Journal of Transient Migration and Amsterdam University Press, and has earned awards such as the SSRC InterAsia Fellowship and EU Horizon 2020 'Seal of Excellence'. His teaching emphasizes ethnographic pedagogy and global inclusivity, with current supervision of PhD students focusing on migration, environmental ethics, and transnational mobility.
