Dr. Alexandra Wong is a Research Fellow at Western Sydney University's Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), where she has been actively engaged since 2012. Her work focuses on transnational cultural flows, urban development, and migration studies within the Asia-Pacific context, with particular expertise in Chinese diaspora communities.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Management (2009) from the University of Edinburgh, an MSc by Research in Business Studies (2001) from the same institution, an MLitt in Management, Economics and International Relations (2000) from the University of St Andrews, and a BSSc (Hons) in Journalism and Communications (1996) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Wong's research centers on three interconnected domains: creative cities and cultural policies, examining how urban spaces foster cultural production; migration and multiculturalism, particularly focusing on transnational Chinese communities; and urban studies and sustainable development, analyzing infrastructure challenges and equitable urban transitions. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges geography, urban studies, and cultural policy analysis.
Her publications reveal consistent engagement with transnational urbanism, diaspora heritage, and cultural infrastructure across major journals including Geographical Research, Australian Geographer, and International Journal of Housing Policy, demonstrating growing influence in urban geography and migration studies.
