Her research explores representations of the erotic, female agency, and taboos in late imperial Chinese literature. Key themes include Buddhist elements in court theater, female inter-relationships, and the intersection of social status with gender dynamics in pre-modern China.
Recent presentations demonstrate a focus on interdisciplinary approaches combining literary analysis, cultural history, and gender studies. She has presented at institutions including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Central Lancashire, and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, covering topics like religious worldviews in court theatre and historical perspectives on sexuality.
