K.C. Fung is a Full Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (since 1998), holding tenure. He concurrently serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong and has held visiting roles at institutions including Seoul National University, National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), and the University of Le Havre (France). His research focuses on international trade, finance, economic development, and regional connectivity in Asia and Latin America. He has published over 140 works and co-authored a book on Sino-Latin American economic relations.
Education: B.A. (Honors) from Swarthmore College; Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Academic Contributions: Guest Editor for Special Issues on Asia-Europe economic links (2015) and the global trading system (2020). Advised Ph.D. students including Dr. Andrea Maechler, now on the Swiss National Bank's governing board. Co-founder of the Santa Cruz Center for International Economics.
Government & International Experience: Senior International Economist at the U.S. White House Council of Economic Advisers (1989–1993), contributing to trade negotiations with Japan and China. Consulted for the OECD, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and WTO. Advised U.S. Congressional committees and Treasury Department on Asia-Pacific economic policy.
