Michael Plummer is the Director of Johns Hopkins University's SAIS Europe since 2014 and holds the Eni Professor of International Economics title. He previously served as Head of the OECD's Development Division (2010–2012), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Economics (2007–2015), and President of the American Committee on Asian Economic Studies (2008–2015). His research focuses on international economics, regional trade agreements, and Asia-Pacific integration.
Plummer earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University. He advises governments on trade policies, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and collaborates with institutions like the Asian Development Bank, World Trade Organization, and United Nations. He has authored/co-authored over 100 journal articles and seminal books such as Megaregionalism 2.0 (2018) and ASEAN Economic Cooperation (2015).
