Privatdozent Dr.-Ing. Jörg Dietrich is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources Management, Leibniz University Hannover. His academic roles include leading a research group and advising students in Civil Engineering. He holds a Dipl.-Geoecol (1999, TU Braunschweig), Dr.-Ing (2006, Ruhr University Bochum), and Habilitation (2019, Leibniz University Hannover).
Research interests focus on systems analysis in hydrology, integrated water resources management, flood forecasting, and adaptation to climate change. His recent work addresses optimization strategies for water demand conflicts, agro-hydrological modeling under extreme climates, and ensemble-based soil moisture analysis.
Key projects include the OPTALS project on reservoir control under climate change (2025-2028), Bayesian flood forecasting (2019), and multi-objective analysis of Chilean Laja Lake water demands (2024). He co-leads the TRUST Research Center and teaches courses on water management, including IWRM and river basin modeling.
Publications span 20+ peer-reviewed articles since 2017, emphasizing hydrological modeling, decision support systems, and interdisciplinary approaches to water challenges. His work bridges technical modeling with socio-economic aspects of water resource management.
