Jón Helgi Egilsson is an Executive Fellow at King's Business School and an Affiliate Member of the Qatar Centre for Global Banking & Finance at King's College London. He is the co-founder and Chair of Monerium, a fintech company specializing in blockchain-based e-money solutions, and served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Icelandic Central Bank from 2013 to 2017. Previously, he held roles as an adjunct professor at Reykjavik University and a lecturer at the University of Iceland in Economics and Engineering departments. He also served as a visiting scholar at Columbia University.
His professional background includes leadership roles such as CEO of Klak Innovation Center (2004–2008), where he initiated Seed Forum Iceland and managed Seed Forum USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master's in Engineering.
Research interests focus on central bank policies, financial stability, fintech innovations, and monetary systems. He contributes to Forbes, sharing insights on global financial trends. His affiliation with the Qatar Centre emphasizes cutting-edge research in central banking challenges and regulatory frameworks.
