Her research examines how pregnancy alters immune responses to TB diagnostics, identifies transcriptional markers for TB progression, and investigates HIV's impact on placental immunology and fetal immune programming. Current projects include the PRAGATHI study on gestational diabetes and TB/HIV interactions.
Recent publications span TB diagnostics in pregnancy, maternal-fetal immunology, community health worker interventions, and gender equity programs. She has received the Bonnie Johnson Sacerdote Clinical Scholar Award and NIH grants for her work in India and South Africa.
- Fellows Travel Award (2011)
- Venona Mae Vanornam Mankes Memorial Award (2005)
- Dean's list, Summer 2002-2005 and January 1997-May 2000
As a principal investigator in multiple trials including PRAGATHI (R01AI162235) and DOLPHIN-Moms, she evaluates pharmacokinetics of TB treatments in pregnant populations. Her lab collaborates with global health networks like IMPAACT and SMART4TB to address TB elimination and maternal health disparities.
