Lynn M Yee is a tenured Associate Professor and the Thomas J. Watkins Memorial Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, serving as Chief of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine since July 2025 and Fellowship Program Director. Her clinical expertise spans high-risk pregnancies, with leadership roles as Medical Director of Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Women's Infectious Diseases Program and the Illinois 24/7 Perinatal HIV Hotline.
Her educational journey includes a BA from Stanford University (2003), MD and MPH from Northwestern University (2008), Obstetrics/Gynecology residency at UCSF (2012), Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Northwestern (2015), and postdoctoral training in the NICHD WRHR Program (2019). Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she maintains active clinical practice while leading research initiatives.
Dr. Yee's research program emphasizes health equity and social determinants of pregnancy outcomes through community-engaged approaches. Her work integrates implementation science to develop interventions for underserved populations, focusing on diabetes in pregnancy, infectious disease management, and postpartum health transitions. Current projects address health literacy gaps and patient-centered care models to reduce disparities in maternal outcomes.
Recent publications reveal strong trends toward health services research examining systemic barriers in postpartum care, infectious disease management during pregnancy, and cardiovascular risk mitigation. These studies consistently apply implementation science frameworks to translate evidence into practice, with particular attention to racial/ethnic disparities and neighborhood safety impacts on birth outcomes.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Leadership Council Inspiration Award from AMA Women Physicians Section (2024)
- Fellowship in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
Dr. Yee directs major collaborative networks including the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, IMPAACT, and GO MOMs studies, securing substantial NIH funding for trials on CMV prevention, preterm birth interventions, and gestational diabetes management. Her RISE program mentorship develops medical student researchers through longitudinal scholarly projects.
The Yee Lab (https://sites.northwestern.edu/yeelab/) operates as a multidisciplinary team spanning obstetrics, epidemiology, and public health, with active partnerships in the Center for Reproductive Science and Institute for Public Health and Medicine. Current initiatives include the nuMoM2b Heart Health Study and PHACS research on HIV-affected pregnancies.
