Justin B. Atkinson

Justin B. Atkinson serves as Academic Dean and Professor of Law at San Joaquin College of Law (SJCL), where he has been faculty since 2010. He teaches Contracts I, Contracts II, and Legal Process. Prior to academia, he practiced litigation at McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Wayte and Carruth LLP, then transitioned to the Fresno County Counsel Office, specializing in civil litigation involving public entity liability. His scholarship focuses on police liability, public law, and international law intersections with literature. He actively participates in the Valley Views on the Law radio series, discussing topics like disability rights, opioid policy, and firearm legislation. His academic credentials include a J.D., M.A., and B.A. from the University of Utah. His career bridges litigation experience with legal education, emphasizing practical legal challenges in public interest areas.
