David Weiland

David Weiland serves as Adjunct Professor at San Joaquin College of Law, combining expertise in civil engineering with legal practice. A 1992 SJCL graduate, he founded the institution's Agricultural Law Review as its first managing editor. Before his legal career, Weiland worked as a civil engineer for 20 years, including roles at Kings County Public Works and private firms.

His legal practice focuses on complex commercial, construction, and real estate litigation, with additional experience in municipal law, land use matters, and design professional liability defense. Weiland has held leadership positions at Dowling Aaron Inc. (as President and litigation department chair) and Coleman & Horowitt (litigation department head). He serves as arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and as Judge Pro Tempore for Fresno and Merced Superior Courts.

Weiland is active in legal education, having taught at both SJCL and Fresno State's School of Engineering. His community service includes 20 years on SJCL's Board of Trustees, presidency of the Fresno State Bulldog Foundation, and advisory roles for Our Lady of Victory School. He frequently lectures to professional associations on construction law, liability, and insurance matters.
