Jussi Lampinen is a multidisciplinary researcher affiliated with the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS) at the University of Helsinki and currently holds a visiting researcher position at the University of Copenhagen. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the Faculty of Science, University of Turku (2020), and post-doctoral research at the Biodiversity Unit, University of Turku (2020–2021).
Research Interests:
- Ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation
- Urban ecology and green infrastructure
- Socio-cultural dimensions of environmental science
- Carbon sequestration in urban ecosystems
Recent Research Trends: His 15 most recent publications focus on urban grassland ecology, stakeholder perceptions of conservation strategies, carbon-biodiversity synergies in green infrastructure, and socio-cultural values for urban sustainability. Key methodologies include geospatial analysis, cross-continental studies, and interdisciplinary frameworks combining ecological and social sciences.
Teaching & Supervision: Lampinen has taught and supervised students in nature-based solutions, urban ecology, and environmental justice, including guiding Master's theses and participating in doctoral supervision.
Projects: He contributes to the HYR Rahastot HELSUS project (2023–2027) and has worked in the CO-CARBON consortium funded by the Academy of Finland.
