Jun Lu is an Associate Professor of Genetics and Vice Chair for Diversity in the Department of Genetics at Yale School of Medicine. He holds affiliations with the Center for Biomedical Data Science, Center for RNA Science and Medicine, and Yale Cancer Center. His research focuses on noncoding RNAs and epigenetic mechanisms in hematopoiesis and cancer. Lu earned his PhD from Boston University and completed postdoctoral training at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
Research interests include: glycoRNA function in neutrophils, epigenetic regulation in cancer, and RNA-based therapeutic development. Notable contributions include discovering cell surface RNAs' role in neutrophil recruitment and developing spatial RNA analysis techniques for archived tissues. Lu has received awards such as the Stewart Trust Fellowship and Forbeck Scholarship.
His lab collaborates extensively, including with Sajid Khan on cancer immunology and Diane Krause on stem cell biology. Current projects explore glycoRNA biogenesis, neutrophil nuclear morphology, and cancer-immune interactions. Lu serves on the Yale Combined Program in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) admissions committee.
