Julius Schälike serves as an Adjunct Professor and academic staff member at the Chair of Practical Philosophy / Business Ethics (Chair II) within the Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, University of Mannheim since 2013 (adjunct professor since 2018). Previously, he held positions as senior academic staff member at the University of Konstanz (2002-2013) and research assistant at the University of Göttingen (2002), with additional visiting professorships at Bern, Konstanz, Magdeburg, and Mannheim over eight semesters.
His academic background includes doctoral studies at Freie Universität Berlin (awarded 2000 under Ursula Wolf) and habilitation at the University of Konstanz (2009), following studies in philosophy, art history, and modern history in München and Berlin.
Research centers on Practical Philosophy with systematic focus on normative/meta-ethics, political/legal philosophy, and applied ethics (business/corporate ethics). Historical expertise spans antiquity (Plato, Aristotle) and 18th-19th century (Hume, Kant, Schopenhauer, Mill), complemented by investigations into moral psychology, freedom of will, and practical rationality/irrationality.
