معرفی
Julie Hussin is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine, Université de Montréal, and leads a bioinformatics research group at the Institut de Cardiologie de Montréal (ICM). She is affiliated with IVADO and RQR (Réseau Québécois en reproduction), focusing on multi-omics data analysis in biomedical research.
- Education: PhD in computational biology (2013) with Philip Awadalla at Hôpital Sainte-Justine; Postdoc at Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (Oxford) and Genome Quebec Innovation Centre (McGill)
Her research integrates deep learning, population genetics, and statistical modeling to address biomedical challenges in cardiovascular disease, SARS-CoV-2, and precision medicine. She also contributes to interpretable machine learning frameworks for omics datasets and evolutionary genomics of gene families.
Major research grants include funding from FRQS, CIHR, NSERC, and Genome Canada, with projects spanning topics like multi-omics in type 2 diabetes, AI in dairy cattle selection, and evolutionary dynamics of cytochrome P450 genes.
- Scientific Awards: FRQS Junior 1 Research Scholar; Canada Research Chair in Responsible Multiomics Data Science
She supervises graduate students in doctoral and master's theses related to genomic pathways, metabolomics, and computational approaches in biomedical sciences. Her lab fosters collaboration between statistical, computational, and clinical teams at ICM.
