Dr. Julie Hussin leads a computational biology research group at the Montreal Heart Institute, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal, Canada. Her lab also serves as associate members at Mila, the Quebec Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
Her research focuses on integrating genomics, evolutionary biology, medicine, and data science to unravel cardiovascular disease mechanisms and develop equitable AI algorithms. Her team explores pandemic preparedness through pathogen evolution and investigates gene family dynamics for biotechnological innovations.
Current group members include bioinformaticians, collaborators, and students at various levels (PhD, MSc, MD-PhD). Her lab emphasizes inclusivity in biomedical research and operates from the unceded territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) Nation.
