Julie Arsenault is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology and Microbiology. She specializes in veterinary epidemiology, focusing on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and infectious disease control in livestock. Her research spans spatial-temporal epidemiology of Campylobacteriosis and Q fever, as well as disease management in small ruminants.
Education: PhD (2010), MSc (2002), and DVM (1999) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Université de Montréal.
Research interests include: spatial distribution of zoonotic pathogens, epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance, and food safety. She leads projects funded by MAPAQ, FRQNT, and industry partners, addressing issues like Salmonella control in veal calves and diagnostic strategies for lentiviruses in small ruminants.
Key grants include the 'Chaire de recherche en antibiosurveillance' and collaborations with the Centre de Recherche en Infectiologie Porcine et Avicole (CRIPA). Over 20 students have been supervised, with publications focusing on veterinary epidemiology, pathogen prevalence, and One Health approaches.
Affiliations: Member of GREZOSP, GRESA, GRESABO, and CERCL research groups. Professional roles include representing Québec for the Canadian Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine Association (CAVEPM).
