Nahuel Fittipaldi is a Professor at the University of Montréal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology and Microbiology. He holds affiliations with strategic research centers such as the CRIPA (Centre de recherche en infectiologie porcine et avicole) and Op+lait (Regroupement de recherche pour un lait de qualité optimale). His expertise lies in the genomic epidemiology of streptococcal pathogens, molecular interactions between pathogens and hosts, and zoonotic disease dynamics.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on veterinary microbiology (DMV-1220) and research methodologies (PTM-6700). He leads or co-leads multiple research grants, including a major 2024-2030 project investigating beta-lactam resistance mechanisms in Streptococcus suis. His work integrates genomic, structural, and epidemiological approaches.
Key research themes include zoonotic streptococcal infections, antimicrobial resistance, and the molecular basis of pathogenesis. Collaborations span veterinary, human, and food safety domains, with a focus on improving diagnostic tools and infection control strategies.
