Dr. Julie Bremner is an Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia and leads science themes at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas). Her research examines marine social-ecological systems with emphasis on sustainable aquatic food systems and coastal ecosystem ecology.
She studies benthic ecological patterns using biological trait analysis and develops remote sensing approaches for coastal monitoring. Dr. Bremner co-leads the interdisciplinary projects MARBEFES and OneFood, focusing on marine biodiversity's societal benefits and food system transformations.
Her international collaborations span Europe, Southern Africa and the South Pacific, with research focusing on seagrass mapping, post-harvest technologies, and coastal sustainability assessments.
