Marie Nordström is an Associate Professor in Marine Food Web Ecology, focusing on the interplay between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in marine environments. Her research spans Arctic seas and the Baltic Sea, addressing climate change impacts and sustainable ecosystem management.
- Current Projects:
- MARBEFES (Horizon Europe, 2022-2026)
- ECOTIP (H2020, 2020-2024)
- BONUS XWEBS (2019-2020)
- BONUS BLUEWEBS (2017-2020)
- MARmaED (2015-2019)
Research Interests center on marine food web dynamics, consumer-resource interactions, and spatiotemporal ecological patterns. She integrates ecological modeling and field studies to assess biodiversity's role in ecosystem services, particularly under climate change and eutrophication stressors.
Recent Publications (2025-2022) highlight her work on Arctic benthic trait diversity, Baltic Sea invertebrate communities, and trait-based approaches to ecosystem functioning. Key themes include climate resilience, habitat-specific dynamics, and cross-regional biodiversity synthesis.
Network & Collaborations extend across EU-funded initiatives, with partnerships in Sweden, Greenland, and West Africa. Her research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing marine conservation and climate action.
