Julian Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Acting at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, specializing in actor training and performance studies. He holds a Diploma in Acting from RADA, a BA in History and Archaeology (First Class) from Birkbeck College, and a Master’s in Classical Studies (Distinction) from The Open University. His research focuses on Stanislavski’s system, Ancient Greek theatre, Shakespeare, Chekhov, and the Theatre of the Absurd. He teaches contextual studies and dramaturgy, and coordinates contextual modules across acting programs. Jones has published extensively on Stanislavski and Brecht, including peer-reviewed articles in Stanislavski Studies and New Theatre Quarterly. His acting career spans 25 years, with notable roles in A Christmas Carol (2019), Human Emotional Process (2016), and The Tempest (2015).
As an external examiner, Jones reviews BA Acting programs at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Institute of the Arts, Barcelona. He also leads workshops on Stanislavski at the University of Malta and collaborates with Burning Oak Theatre, his former company. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary connections between classical and modern performance techniques, particularly in emotion and language dynamics.
