D. Lance Marsh is a Professor of Acting and Head of Performance in the School of Theatre at Oklahoma City University (OCU). He teaches advanced acting courses including Chekhov, Shakespeare, Greek Tragedy, and Audition Techniques. As Head of Performance, he oversees the theatre program and has directed numerous acclaimed productions such as Cosi, Hamlet, and his adaptation of The Trojan Women. His work with Cosi reached the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival finals.
Education: BFA in Theatre (Acting) from Stephens College, MFA in Acting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Research & Creative Work: Focuses on classical theatre, play adaptation, and performance pedagogy. Notable directorial adaptations include A Christmas Carol and The House of Atreus. His directing spans 15+ years across institutions in California, Missouri, Arizona, and Wisconsin.
Awards: 2015 OCU Outstanding Faculty Award for academic excellence.
Professional Affiliations: Associate Artistic Director of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, member of Actors Equity Association. Active with Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (City Rep), directing The Glass Menagerie and performing in Red and Peter and the Starcatcher.
Past Roles: Former founding Artistic Director of Summerset Theatre (WI), professional actor in companies like California Shakespeare Festival and Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival. Over 15 years of professional acting in classical plays before transitioning to academia.
