Hal Kohlman is an Associate Professor of Acting and Directing at Oklahoma City University's Theatre department. He has taught at OCU since 2009, specializing in acting, directing, and theatre history. Previously, he taught at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and holds a BA in English Literature from Rice University, an MFA in Directing for the Stage from the University of Texas at Austin, and additional studies in theatre history, theory, and criticism at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

His research interests span acting methodologies, play direction, and Shakespearean performance. His work emphasizes classical theatre and community engagement through local theatre productions.

Hal advises students in acting and directing and actively contributes to Oklahoma's theatre community. He is a member of Actor’s Equity of America and has maintained a dual role as both educator and performer for decades.
