Julian Arato is a Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School and Co-Director of the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law. He actively contributes to academic leadership as a member of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) and Co-Chair of its International Economic Law Interest Group. Additionally, he serves on the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) Academic Council and edits the International Decisions section of the American Journal of International Law.
His research focuses on international law, particularly in international business and economic law, with an emphasis on arbitration and transnational legal frameworks. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical applications in international dispute resolution.
Professor Arato previously held an Associate-in-Law position at Columbia Law School and worked as an associate in the international arbitration group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He maintains affiliations with leading institutions in international legal scholarship.
