Dr. Julia Olsen is an Associate Professor in Environmental Sociology at Nord University, specializing in socio-economic adaptation in Arctic regions, ocean sustainability, and marine litter management. She coordinates the Circumpolar and Nordic Studies bachelor’s program and teaches courses on sustainability and climate change. Her research focuses on Arctic shipping impacts, tourism governance, and community resilience, supported by projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and the EU. Recent projects include 'Building transdisciplinary bridges for sustainable Svalbard development' and 'SHIFTPLASTICS' addressing plastic waste in fisheries.
