Dr. Julia Baird is an Associate Professor at Brock University's Department of Geography and Tourism Studies and Director of the Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC). She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Human Dimensions of Water Resources and Water Resilience. Her research focuses on water governance, resilience in social-ecological systems, and agricultural sustainability. She has a Ph.D. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Saskatchewan.
Her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to study decision-making in water management, emphasizing resilience frameworks and adaptive governance. Key areas include collaborative environmental stewardship, socio-ecological system modeling, and climate change adaptation strategies. She has published extensively on topics like watershed resilience, environmental perceptions, and stakeholder collaboration in flood governance.
Recent research includes analyses of environmental stewardship outcomes, ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes, and trust dynamics in crisis management. Her work frequently bridges academic and practitioner communities to address real-world sustainability challenges.
