Dr. Kevin Wagner is a Professor in the Department of Plant & Soil Sciences and Director of the Oklahoma Water Resources Center and Oklahoma NSF EPSCoR Program at Oklahoma State University (OSU). He holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Texas A&M University (2011), an M.S. in Environmental Science from OSU (1995), and a B.S. in Biology from Howard Payne University (1992). His research focuses on water resources management, stakeholder engagement, watershed sustainability, and conservation practices. He leads interdisciplinary teams addressing water resilience and carbon infrastructure challenges.
Dr. Wagner’s work integrates remote sensing, machine learning, and policy analysis to tackle issues like irrigation mapping, virtual fencing for grazing management, and flood prediction. His recent studies highlight advancements in environmental flows governance, climate adaptation in agriculture, and microbial source tracking. He has secured over 40 grants, including projects on groundwater monitoring and regenerative agricultural practices. Leadership roles include directing state and national initiatives aimed at sustainable water solutions, emphasizing stakeholder collaboration and community education.
His publications span 50+ articles, emphasizing technical innovations (e.g., multi-model ensemble mapping) and socio-environmental challenges. Key themes include mitigating water scarcity, enhancing conservation adoption, and improving water quality through BMPs. Dr. Wagner’s contributions bridge science and policy, fostering resilient water systems in water-limited regions.
