Judy Ledlee, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of Design Climate at Duke University. She is a Duke alumna with a D.Phil. (2017) and M.S. (2015) from Duke University and a B.S. (2008) from Tufts University. Her work focuses on cleantech innovation and commercialization, particularly in water treatment technologies.

Her research interests include climate change mitigation through technological innovation, sustainable water treatment solutions, and fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems. She co-founded a startup for hydraulic fracturing wastewater recycling during her doctoral studies.
Design Climate, which she leads at Duke, serves as a startup incubator for climate and energy ventures. The program collaborates with Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering and Nicholas School of the Environment to prepare early-stage companies for funding, build prototypes, and provide hands-on educational experiences for students. It also connects faculty research to commercial applications and engages industry partners.
