معرفی
Ram Oren is the Nicholas Distinguished Professor of Earth Systems Science and Co-Chair of the Master of Forestry program at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment. His research focuses on forest ecosystem responses to environmental changes, particularly water and carbon cycles under climate variability and elevated CO₂. He leads studies on transpiration dynamics, root-carbon interactions, and hydraulic redistribution in boreal and temperate forests.
Education:
- Ph.D., Oregon State University (1984)
- M.S., Oregon State University (1980)
- B.S., Humboldt State University (1978)
Research Interests: Oren investigates how biotic and abiotic factors influence forest water use efficiency, carbon sequestration, and ecosystem resilience. His work integrates field experiments (e.g., Duke Forest FACE) with modeling to predict responses to drought, temperature shifts, and CO₂ enrichment.
Grants & Awards: Recent grants include US-Israel BSF-funded studies on stomatal behavior and DOE-funded projects on CO₂-temperature interactions. He was named among the World’s Most Highly Cited Researchers in 2021 and 2020.
Advising & Labs: Oren collaborates with graduate students on projects at Duke Forest and global sites, focusing on ecohydrology and carbon dynamics. His lab employs sap flux sensors, isotopic tracing, and eddy covariance to quantify ecosystem processes.
