Zuosinan Chen

Zuosinan Chen is a Research Fellow at the University of Oulu, affiliated with the Faculty of Technology. Their work focuses on forest ecohydrology and water-energy-environmental engineering, particularly examining biotic and abiotic mechanisms in tree water dynamics under climate change.

• Research Interests: Tree water uptake strategies, soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, nighttime sap flow, isotope hydrology, and impacts of extreme weather events.
• Projects: Leading two major initiatives: Boreal Forest WATER Fluxes under changing rain-snow seasonality and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Chen employs interdisciplinary methodologies including sap flow monitoring, stable water isotope techniques, and climate control experiments to study boreal forest water cycles. They are establishing a comprehensive research infrastructure at the Oulanka Research Station.
