Shaakir Shabir Dar is a Research Fellow at the University of Oulu, affiliated with the Faculty of Technology and the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering department. His work focuses on isotopic and hydrological processes in cold climates.

Research interests center on decoding isotopic fingerprints of snow sublimation, water vapor dynamics, and atmospheric moisture transport. His methodology integrates water isotope forensics with eddy covariance flux measurements to study phase transitions in the cryospheric water cycle.
Projects include Isotopes in Sublimation by Laboratory and In-field Meteorological Experiments, conducted at Oulanka Research Station and the Cold Climate Container at the University of Oslo. This aligns with initiatives like Cryosphere Research Infrastructure and Correcting a Bias Undermining the Global Importance of Snowmelt.
