Avner Vengosh is the Nicholas Distinguished Professor of Environmental Quality at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and chairs the Division of Earth and Climate Sciences. His research focuses on the energy-water nexus, particularly the environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing, coal ash disposal, lithium mining, and phosphate fertilizers. He holds joint appointments in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Pratt School of Engineering) and the Duke Global Health Institute.
