Dr. Judy Dunlop is a Research Fellow at Curtin University's School of Molecular and Life Sciences (MLS), within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. She also serves in the Office of the Provost. Her primary research focuses on endangered species conservation, particularly the northern quoll (Dasyurus hallucatus), as well as habitat ecology, invasive species management, and fauna translocations. Her work integrates field studies, genetic analysis, and spatial modeling to address biodiversity challenges in arid and mining-impacted landscapes.
Key research areas include:
- Conservation strategies for threatened marsupials
- Ecological impacts of mining and habitat fragmentation
- Surveillance and mitigation of rodenticides in wildlife
- Genetic diversity in translocated populations
- Movement ecology and spatial behavior of endangered species
Her publications (2014–2025) emphasize themes like:
- Species distribution modeling
- Camera trap methodologies
- Predator-prey dynamics
- Environmental DNA applications
Notable collaborations include industry environmental offset projects and Indigenous Protected Area initiatives. Her work contributes to policy-relevant conservation outcomes in Western Australia's Pilbara region.
