Professor Katherine Moseby is a wildlife ecologist and conservation biologist at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), focusing on arid and semi-arid ecosystems. Her work spans applied research in species translocation, predator-prey dynamics, and biodiversity conservation, with a particular emphasis on threatened Australian mammals like bilbies, quolls, and numbats. She leads large-scale field experiments and co-founded key conservation initiatives such as Arid Recovery, Wild Deserts, and Tetepare Island, which have influenced national policies on predator management and ecosystem restoration. Her research has driven the adoption of conservation fences and predator thresholds to enhance reintroduction success beyond fenced reserves.
Her current projects include studies on feral cat impacts, heat stress in desert mammals, and trophic cascades in fenced reserves. She actively supervises students in ecological research and collaborates with institutions like the National Environment Science Program Resilient Landscapes Hub and Great Victoria Desert Biodiversity Trust.
