Georgina Neave is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Feral Cat Ecology at Charles Darwin University’s Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods, within the Faculty of Science and Technology. She holds a PhD from the same institution’s Higher Degree by Research cohort. Her research focuses on understanding threats such as fire, habitat fragmentation, and invasive species to Australia’s tropical savanna mammals, with a particular emphasis on safe haven management and fauna translocations.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life on land and climate action. She has led projects like the 'Abundance of the Brush-tailed Rabbit-Rat at Shark Bay' and 'Population Dynamics of Declining Savanna Mammals Following Fire,' collaborating with government agencies and conservation organizations. Her studies explore genetic impacts of fire on small mammals, predator-prey interactions in reintroduction programs, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions through feral animal control.
Georgina’s articles highlight innovative solutions like anti-predation devices for reptiles and genomics-based conservation strategies for endangered species. Her research bridges applied conservation practices with ecological theory, aiming to inform land management policies in Australia’s tropical regions.
