Judith Thornton is a Low Carbon Manager at the Institute of Biological, Environmental, and Rural Sciences (IBERS), Aberystwyth University, focusing on plant-based economies and climate change mitigation. She serves as an expert advisor on Wales' Net Zero 2035 challenge group and has held postdoctoral roles at the University of Leeds and Cardiff University, along with teaching positions at the University of Padua and Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT).
Research Interests
Her work centers on plants as building materials, including the world’s first Miscanthus bale house, and improving dialogue between plant scientists and the construction industry. She also investigates agricultural adaptation to net zero goals, emphasizing carbon sequestration and environmental benefits.
