Judith A. Linneman is an Instructional Professor in the Department of Sociology at Texas A&M University, College of Arts & Sciences. She has held roles including Director for Instructional Training and Teaching Resources, focusing on undergraduate and graduate pedagogy. With a Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from Iowa State University (1985), her research interests include teaching methodologies, rural sociology, environmental sociology, and family studies. She has taught courses on research methods, professional development, and sociology fundamentals, mentoring numerous graduate instructors.
Dr. Linneman’s academic journey includes a Bachelor’s in Agriculture (1977) and a Master’s in Community Development (1980) from the University of Missouri. Her doctoral dissertation applied LISREL analysis to farm animal welfare attitudes in Iowa. She has authored teaching guides for graduate instructors and presented at conferences like the Southwest Social Science Association and the Rural Sociological Society.
Her service contributions include advising Alpha Kappa Delta, chairing the Graduate Instructor Mentoring Committee, and leading IRB-related initiatives. Awards include the 2016 Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching and Iowa State’s Research Excellence Award (1985).
