Professor Judit Fazekas is a distinguished academic at Széchenyi István University, where she has served as a university professor since 2013. She held the prestigious dual roles of Dean of the Deák Ferenc Faculty of Political Science and Law from 2013 to 2021 and Head of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law from 2015 to 2021. With an extensive career spanning over four decades, she has shaped legal education at multiple Hungarian institutions including the University of Miskolc and Pázmány Péter University.
Professor Fazekas earned her Law degree from ELTE Law School in 1981 and holds advanced academic credentials including Candidate of Political Science and Law (CSc), PhD, and Dr. habil. degrees. Her academic journey began at the University of Miskolc where she served as a lecturer from 1981 to 2012, later becoming a university professor in 2002. She also held significant governmental positions as Deputy State Secretary for EU Integration (2002-2006) and State Secretary for European Union and International Affairs (2002-2010) at the Ministry of Justice.
Professor Fazekas's research focuses on civil law, European law, and consumer protection law, with over 360 scientific publications including 26 independent books, 6 book edits, and 97 book excerpts. Her scholarly work bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical applications in EU and Hungarian legal systems, particularly in consumer rights protection. Throughout her 42-year academic career, she has taught thousands of law students across multiple institutions, establishing herself as a leading figure in Hungarian legal education.

Professor Fazekas has held significant leadership positions in academic and professional organizations, serving as secretary (2005-2014) and vice-chair (2014-2017) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Committee on Political Science and Law, and currently as a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Asset Management Board since 2023. She has been actively involved in international legal associations including the International Association of Consumer Law (Board of Directors 1996-2000) and the Board of Trustees of the European Academy of Law (2004-2010).
Her professional influence extends beyond academia into legal practice as a member of the Hungarian Bar Association, where she headed the European Law Department from 2005 to 2010. Professor Fazekas maintains strong connections with both national and international legal communities, contributing significantly to the development of civil law education and practice in Hungary.
