Juanjo Medina is Professor at the University of Manchester's Centre for Criminology and Criminal Justice. His research spans interpersonal violence, spatial crime patterns, and quantitative methodologies. He currently leads ESRC projects applying machine learning to predict domestic violence risk and food supply chain vulnerabilities.
Key research areas include gender-based violence, geographical crime analysis, gang dynamics, and comparative criminal justice systems. He champions quantitative pedagogy through the Q-Step initiative and advocates for open-access science resources.
PhD students under his supervision work on topics including recidivism in Chile, transnational policing in Taiwan, and fear-of-crime modeling.
