Joshua Snell is an Assistant Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences and the Cognitive Psychology department (IBBA). His research focuses on visual language processing, particularly reading, integrating domains like attention, memory, and oculomotor control. He employs techniques such as electro-encephalography, behavioral experiments, and computational modeling. Notable contributions include the PONG model of visual word recognition and leadership of the Snell Language Lab (http://snelllab.eu).
Research interests span lexical processing, eye movement dynamics, and cognitive modeling. His recent work explores absolute letter position encoding and the impact of adaptive descriptions on museum visitor behavior. He teaches courses on cognitive psychology and its applications to AI.
