Dr. RJ Godijn is a Lecturer in the Department of Cognitive Psychology at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds dual roles as a Docent Psychologie (Psychology Lecturer) in Lelystad since 2014 and 2018. His research focuses on eye movement control, working memory processes, and attentional mechanisms. Key topics include the role of eye movements in spatial working memory rehearsal, oculomotor capture during visual search, and antisaccade tasks reflecting executive control.
He teaches courses such as Cognitive Psychology and Its Applications, Memory and Memory Disorders, and supervises Master's theses in Clinical and Cognitive Neuropsychology. His work integrates behavioral experiments with theoretical models of visual cognition, with notable contributions to understanding how attentional demands modulate eye movement behavior. Godijn has presented at multiple academic venues, including lectures on saccadic target selection and competition in oculomotor systems.
His research outputs span 22 publications, with a focus on visual cognition and oculomotor control, and his findings are widely cited (89 readers on Mendeley).
