Joshua Papsdorf, Ph.D., serves as Dean of the School of Catholic Studies and Director of the Gerber Institute at Newman University. He earned his A.B. in Philosophy from Dartmouth College, M.A. in Theology from Boston College, and Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Fordham University under Joseph Lienhard, S.J.
His research focuses on Latin patristics, particularly Ambrosiaster and St. Augustine, alongside Catholic ethics and interdisciplinary theology. Current projects explore Julian of Eclanum, theology-health intersections, and concupiscence in early Christian thought.
He has presented at the International Conference on Patristics Studies (Oxford, England) and contributes to community education through roles at St. John's Catholic Church and Saints in the Making Coop.
